CESNW was contracted for the design of the widening and realignment of SW 108th Avenue from its intersection of Willow Street, southerly to Marilyn Street. The project required an alignment study, public/neighborhood involvement program and Council approval of the recommended roadway alignment. The existing neighborhood was concerned about safety and the increased speeds that might occur with the roadway widening. The street improvements include curbs, sidewalks, signing, striping, street lighting, street trees, storm drainage improvements, and storm water quality treatment for the increased runoff resulting from the road widening. To address pedestrian safety additional pavement marking and mid-block crossings were installed.

CESNW developed modifications to an existing storm water quality facility so that it could accept a portion of the project’s increased storm runoff. We also analyzed a second facility to show that it already had the capacity for its portion of additional runoff. The project recently completed construction.
